Lucid unveils Gravity, an e-SUV with Air roots and power

Lucid Motors has held the first presentation of its new battery SUV, the Gravity. The car comes based on the same platform as the Air sedan and calls the Tesla Model X its main rival.

What we see before us is most likely a concept, rather than a production-ready version, but Lucid seems to follow through with most of its original ideas. There are slide-out doors, a bi-color body and narrow LED-based lights at both ends, with taillights spanning nearly the entire car width.

Given that the Air sedan has 832 kilometers (517 miles) of EPA-rated driving range, one could expect the Gravity to be similar in this respect. The dual electric motors jointly rated at 1,013 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW) and the 113-kWh traction battery will power both models.

Production should begin in Casa Grande, Arizona, USA. Lucid hopes to produce up to a million electric cars annually by 2027, not limited to luxury models but also including affordable ones.
