The all-electric luxury saloon will not be revealed in its full glory until the New York International Auto Show 2020, but the company keeps teasing us with its specs.
According to Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid Motors, the Lucid Air will feature a unique battery rated at 900 volts – higher than originally planned. To put things into perspective, even the Porsche Taycan sources its power from a 800V battery, while the entire Tesla range makes do with 400 volts.
Rawlinson added that the upcoming archrival of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class would be partially autonomous, but did not specify the level of that autonomy. In conclusion, he boasted the engineering department’s success in extending the efficient range of the car to EPA-rated 400 miles (644 kilometers). This claim is particularly interesting because the team reportedly worked with a smaller battery than the largest 130-kWh one previously announced for the model.
