A planned modernization may make a hypercar out of the Lucid Air EV, Autocar.co.uk reports citing its own sources. The new sedan will allegedly receive 1,622 PS (1,600 hp / 1,193 kW) from its three electric motors and be available in Europe, too.
The current top specification has ‘only’ 1,127 PS (1,111 hp / 830 kW) at its disposal. Autocar believes that the new Lucid Air will be even faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid, which commands 1,033 PS (1,020 hp / 760 kW) and sprints 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in under two seconds.
The 1,111-hp Lucid Air Performance is no longer available to pre-order. The next version scheduled for production packs 1,065 PS (1,050 hp / 783 kW) and concludes its standard sprint exercise in around three seconds.
In addition to this, Lucid is busy developing a particularly comfortable air-cushioned suspension for the Air along with flexibly adjustable separate rear seats.
Autocar reports that sales in Europe will begin this summer. Lucid plans to open branch offices in a dozen on countries, including Germany and Norway, as well as produce a RHD variant of the Air for the United Kingdom.
