Electric carmaker Lucid has revealed the upcoming range of accessories for its Air sedan (see video). One of the highlights is the Connected Home Charging Station, a 19.2kW charger that replenishes 129 km (80 miles) of range per hour of charging from a normal power socket.
The charger casing is extremely compact and can be installed indoors or outdoors. A 7.3m (24-feet) cable is included, and Lucid proudly points out that it is much thinner than the rival carmakers’ offers.
The CHCS is bidirectional, meaning that the car can not only charge up using the device, but also supply the stored electricity to external devices. A Wi-Fi hotspot enables it to get over-the-air updates.
The price in the United States is $1,200.
All other accessories follow the same design as the car and are built to be useful. For example, there is an illuminated roof box made out of ABS plastic that can hold up to 324 liters (11.4 cubic feet) of luggage. There is also an aluminum roof rack that comes with a bike mount and is rated up to 74 kilograms (163 pounds) of load. Snowboard and kayak mounts are also available for sport enthusiasts. Rounding off the list are rubber floor mats. All prices lie within the $250–$2,000 range.
Preorders are already being processed. Shipments are set to begin in late 2022 except for the roof rack, which is coming in early 2023.
