U.S. Armor Group has unveiled its latest project: a Lucid Air Sapphire EV with 1,251 PS (1,234 hp / 920 kW) under the hood and bulletproof plating all around.
The lightweight composite armor panels installed just under the OEM bodywork let the sedan shrug off gunfire up to 0.44 Magnum caliber. The curb weight only goes up by 175 kilos (385 pounds), so the Air retains its manufacturer-rated top speed of 322 km/h (200 miles per hour). The company claims that it makes it the planet’s fastest-going armored car.
Unsurprisingly, driving one comes with a steep price. While the base Lucid Air Sapphire isn’t exactly cheap itself with a $250,000 starting price tag, the U.S. Armor Group version leans further into supercar territory with $475,000.
