Lucid, a U.S.-based EV startup so far only known for its Air sedan lineup, has launched its second production model – the Gravity SUV. It is coming in two versions to choose from, but for the time being, only the $94,900 flagship spec is available. The other one won’t be joining it until late 2025.
The flagship spec that’s being offered right now is called Grand Touring. It utilizes a couple of electric motors joining their efforts for 840 PS (828 hp / 618 kW). The range is supposed to exceed 700 kilometers (435 miles), but Lucid has yet to obtain the official certificates confirming it.
The base trim gets you a five-seat interior with 12-way adjustable seats and 21-inch wheels. Paying extra unlocks an opportunity for a third seat row, extra-comfy seats for the driver and the front passenger, and premium wheels sized up to 23 inches large. The dashboard houses two displays, the main one sized 34 inches corner-to-corner and the smaller one used mainly as a control panel. Lucid also promises a wide assortment of electronic features and a high level of driving autonomy.
It is worth remembering that the Gravity was first announced in the fall of 2022. It was supposed to bolster sales for the budding electric automaker, but with over two years in development, might be coming a bit too late to the market. At the very least, it will have to draw the customers’ attention away from such domestically designed competitors as the Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1S. It remains to be seen how it fares in that regard.
