Video: Huawei and Chery’s EV parks itself

The all-electric sedan known as the Luxeed S7, co-designed between IT giant Huawei and automaker Chery, will cost from 249,800 to 349,800 Yuan on its domestic market, which roughly translates into U.S. $34,800–48,800. Here’s what it brings to the table.

The first Luxeed car runs a platform similar to that of the Exeed Exlantix and can cover up to 855 kilometers (531 miles) on a charge. The launch video demonstrates one of its core features – self-parking.

In its most basic version, the car utilizes a single motor at the rear axle rated at 292 PS (288 hp / 215 kW). A 62-kWh traction battery gives it up to 550 km (342 miles) of CLTC-rated range. A higher spec is available with an 82-kh battery pack and 705 km (438 miles) of range.

The longest-range version mentioned above gets a 100-kWh pack. Finally, there is an all-wheel-drive flagship spec on the list with a combined 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW) from two motors and 630 km (391 miles) of range. The flagship sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds and recharges enough for 215 km (133 miles) of driving in just 5 minutes.

The spec sheet says the car is 4,971 mm long, 1,963 mm wide and 1,474 mm tall with 2,950 mm between the axles (inches: 194.2 x 76.7 x 57.6 with 115.3 for the wheelbase). The drag ratio is a low 0.203.

In the newly created Luxeed brand, Chery handles the chassis and the powertrain electronics while Huawei supplies the multimedia features and the semi-autonomous driving suite. The latter comprises a LiDAR, as many as 15 conventional radars and 11 cameras, all of which provide real-time data to Huawei software for processing.
