Meet the Mahindra Scorpio-N, a three-row SUV for India

The Scorpio-N is a new version of the Scorpio body-on-frame SUV, which has stayed in production for 20 years now. A full premiere will take place on June 27, 2022.

The off-roader has been switched to a new body-on-frame chassis, the manufacturer says, adding that it still retains its three seat rows. The body length remains to be revealed; the old Scorpio was no more than 4.5 meters (14.75 feet) long despite having seven seats inside.

Aside from the new architecture and redesigned appearance, the Scorpio-N will get a completely new interior – although the specifics will remain a secret until the premiere. Engine options have also been outlined rather vaguely: there will be a petrol engine and a diesel obtainable with a manual or automatic transmission. The company likely refers to its existing 2.0- and 2.2-liter engines, respectively.

Mahindra has facelifted the Scorpio four times in two decades, and the last time was five years ago. When the new model reaches the market, the old one will not go anywhere soon: it will continue to be available under the name ‘Scorpio Classic’.
