Indian blogger Arun Panwar decided to see how well his brand-new Mahindra Scorpio-N off-roader would fare when put under some running water. Spoiler alert: not well at all!
Water started sipping into the cabin as soon as it hit the roof and quickly proceeded to soak it completely, trickling in through speakers and what appeared to be sealing gaps all around. Panwar claims he took care to ensure the roof hatch was in fully closed position prior to the test.
The shower culminated in the body-on-frame SUV having its seats, infotainment and center tunnel completely waterlogged. Panwar did another check of the sunroof and was unable to find any gaps.
One of the theories is that the blogger got a hold of an early pre-production version of the Scorpio-N, which may have had unresolved sealing issues. That said, the test doesn’t bode well for drivers in India, where rains can be every bit as intense as the waterfall in the video.
