Yesterday, Indian automotive giant Mahindra unveiled an all-electric SUV prototype called Thar.e along with another concept car, which could be closer to actual production.
Dubbed the Global Pik Up, it is based on the same platform as the Scorpio-N and is meant to compete with the likes of Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux in the premium segment of the market. It comes loaded with off-road accessories that you can easily see for yourself in the photos.
Other than that, there is little info about the production truck. It is official that it gets to inherit the suspension and the stretched frame from the Scorpio-N. A new 2.2-liter turbo diesel toils under the hood, but the company doesn’t say how much it pumps out. In a number of regions, a petrol engine will be available, too, Mahindra says. The availability dates and pricing are unknown, though.
