Indian media had believed that the Mahindra XUV500 (see photos) would soon change generations, but it now turns out that the automaker will be replacing it with a crossover SUV based on a brand-new platform and tech.
The international model will be called XUV700 and produced in Pune, India. Sales should start either late this summer or early in the fall. Petrol and diesel engines will be available with manual and automatic transmissions, and all-wheel drive will be available at a premium.
The XUV700 is expected to inherit some exterior traits of its predecessor, including the characteristic daytime running lights and the curved lower bezel of the rear window. The interior will offer seating for six.
