Ares Design has begun a project to restore the classical 1956 Maserati A6CGS Spyder using modern components and tech. The concept vehicle is known as “Project Wani”.
So far, we only have teaser images of the upcoming vehicle. What’s alarming is that these depict something rather reminiscent of the Mazda MX-5 or the Chevrolet Corvette C2 by Mitsuoka Motor Co, rather than the roadster it should be. Besides, frankly speaking, the front part of the vehicle looks rather sloppy. And you would be challenged to find side-mounted exhaust pipes like these on 1950s roadsters.
Then, of course, there are some aspects we quite like. The rear, for example, looks really good, as so do the thin-spoked wheels with white-rimmed tires. But then again, the original 1956 Maserati A6CGS Spyder had neither…
The interior looks decent, if also a bit confusing. For instance, there are three pedals and no gear switch. But let’s not jump to conclusions, right? It still isn’t decided whether the car even makes it into production, let alone what it will look like in its final version.
