Maserati changes its release schedule, makes new announcements

Italian supercar marque Maserati has made numerous changes to its release schedule initially released by Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles in 2018. Both the facelifted and the new models are affected.

For one, the company has previously announced that its three core products – the sedans Ghibli and Quattroporte and the Levante SUV – would go into next generation in 2022. According to the updated schedule, all three will be getting a mid-generational refresh (facelift) in 2020, and the next generation gets delayed. The 2nd-gen Levante won’t come out until 2023, and the brand-new Quattroporte should arrive in 2022. The Ghibli is notably missing the schedule.

The brand-new Alfieri supercar, initially planned for launch in 2022, will likely debut two years ahead of schedule. The company says it will be introducing ‘a complately new sports car’ in 2020, and while no further details are provided it is most likely the Alfieri. A year after the initial launch, an open-top variant will become available.

There are also some new announcements. For instance, a brand-new GranTurismo vehicle and a mini-SUV are now underway for their market release in 2021. A GranCabrio and three electrified vehicles (convertible, coupe and SUV) should follow in 2022.
