Maserati has taken its second production SUV allegedly named Levantina out for some drive tests. As you may see, the test mule pretends it is an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, but the stripped badges and the camo patches on the front end and exhaust tips give it away.
Why pick the Stelvio body? The choice is hardly coincidental, because the new SUV shares its architecture with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia models. On an interesting side note, Maserati says that the still unreleased Tonale SUV (see video for concept) will also lend it some of its tech know-hows.
It is official that the alleged Levantina will be marketed as a smaller and more affordable alternative to the current Levante model. It should enter production in late 2020 or so, with sales planned for 2021.
