Check out this Maserati GranTurismo ‘Prince of Persia’ Edition

Since 2019, Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera s.r.l. offers a total makeover plan for the Maserati GranTurismo, which essentially turns it into the one-off luxury vehicle that used to belong to Iran royalty in the 1950s.

The vehicle in question is the Maserati 5000 GT, famously nicknamed ‘Scià di Persia’, which means ‘Prince’, or ‘Sheikh’, ‘of Persia’. Thanks to Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, anyone can order their own replica of it now if they have enough funds and patience (every unit takes six months to produce).

Features include a brand-new body (roadster or coupe), hand-crafted aluminum and carbon paneling, new headlights and hood cover, redesigned bumpers, and sporty-looking dual tailpipes. The coupe additionally boasts a stylish rear window, which the roadster lacks.

The cabin remains largely unchanged, and the drivetrain stays stock. In its open-top variant, the GranTurismo Touring Sciadipersia needs five seconds to get from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and hits its limit at 288 km/h (179 mph). The coupe should be a bit faster than that.
