Maserati GranTurismo starts shedding camo

The next-gen Maserati GranTurismo has cropped up on spy shots quite a few times now, but the latest batch sees it slowly revealing its true nature.

The cladding that used to cover the entire front fascia is gone, revealing vertical headlight units, a familiar-looking front grille and large air intakes.

The rear end has also begun uncovering its disguise, revealing a pair of taillights, a rear diffuser, and a chrome strip on the trunk lid. The new design looks like an evolutionary step forward from the old one, which is not bad.

It remains to be seen what the interior looks like, but considerable upgrades over the past generation are expected here as well. This includes a state-of-the-art infotainment system and a digital dashboard. If we were to guess the engine, the V6 TT Nettuno of the MC20 rated at 620 PS (611 hp / 456 kW) is a distinct possibility.

Maserati intended to unveil the new GranTurismo in November 2021, but never did due to the ongoing global microchip shortage. The premiere is now set for the first half of the current year.
