Maserati will be returning to the motorsports this year to supply powertrains to the ROKiT Venturi Racing team. The automaker made the corresponding announcement this weekend, accompanying it with a rather intriguing photo.
Depicted is Maserati CEO, Davide Grasso, shaking hands with Scott Swid, a representative of the racing team, against the background of a still-unreleased GranTurismo Folgore EV. The car has only ever shown up on teaser pics until now, and this seems to be its first live appearance.
The coupe has a short rear overhang and a long front end, both typical Maserari features. Rumors claim that its powertrain will incorporate a trio of electric motors jointly rated at 1,200 PS (1,183 hp / 882 kW). Acelerating from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) should succeed in less than three seconds, and the top speed promises to break through 300 km/h (186 mph).
