Spied: Watch the Maserati Folgore running the North Loop

Maserati continues testing its electric GranTurismo Folgore coupe, as evidenced by this video shot unofficially at the famous Nürburgring Circuit.

There is no doubt that the prototype is full-on electric. It lacks tailpipes, wears an EV sticker next to its number plate and has a concealed charging port under one of the taillights (look closely, and you will see it).

Before the first Folgore hits the mass market, though, the company plans to release yet another GranTurismo running on gas. We expect the next generation to look close or identical to the upcoming EV.

As for the powertrain, rumor has it three electric motors propel the GT Folgore with 1,200 PS (1,184 hp / 883 kW), letting it accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under three seconds and ultimately exceed 300 km/h (186 mph). No evidence exists to prove these rumored numbers, though, so we’d be better off waiting for the official announcement.
