Maserati has shared spy shots of its latest model, a mid-size SUV named Grecale.
The car owes its name to a Mediterranean wind and first appeared in a teaser in September 2020. Pre-production test vehicles have already been spotted on roads, out in open terrain and on raceways. The Italian marque had intended to reveal the model in spring, but it remains to be seen whether it is not postponed.
The Grecale will be marketed as a cheaper alternative to the Levante while being only marginally smaller. It comes based on the Giorgio platform of the Alfa Romeo Giulia и Stelvio, so odds are good it will also inherit their 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6.
The production will take place at the FCA factory in Cassino, Italy, alongside Alfa Romeo cars. Retrofitting the factory will require an investment of €800 million.
