Maserati has arrived at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a new modification of its Levante SUV named GTS. Once it gets released, the car will occupy a market niche right next to the top-of-the-line Levante Trofeo, which is powered by a 590hp / 440kW engine.
The new Maserati Levante GTS comes driven by a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine capable of 550 hp (410 kW). Its torque of 730 Nm (538 lb·ft), however, equals that of the Trofeo. The unit works in conjunction with a multi-speed automatic transmission.
The 4WD vehicle accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, which is a mere fraction of a second slower than the fastest-going member of its family can do. It also reaches up to 292 km/h (181 mph).
Compared to the Levante Trofeo in terms of exterior appearance, the new Levante GTS draws attention to the lack of air intakes in the hood cover. Their bumpers, however, are identical.
The interior of the newcomer uses Bordeaux leather finishing with elegant stitching. An advanced audio system comprised of 14 speakers is available separately.
