The mid-engined Maserati MC20 supercar had been shceduled for May premiere, but Covid-19 pushed these plans back to September. For the time being, the vehicle remains covered in camo wrap that has ‘Stirling Moss’ written over it.
The legendary British racer, who passed away on April 12, 2020, has driven Maserati 250F, Tipo 60 Birdcage, Tipo 61, 300 S, and Eldorado models back in his time. Commemorating him in its next production series was the least the Italian sports car maker could do – and the company expressed hopes that Moss would be fond of its new MC20.
Other than this, details are pretty scarce right now. The MC20 will be the first Maserati in many years to feature an in-house engine design free of third-party patents or IP. Rumor has it that the unit has six cylinders and dual turbine chargers, and sends up to 600 hp (447 kW) to the wheels via eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Please note, however, that there is no official confirmation of these specs to date.
