When unveiling its MC20 Coupe, Maserati made it clear that an open-top variant of the car was also on its way – but we haven’t seen it until now.
The photos depict a camouflaged vehicle that the company describes as an ‘early prototype’. The cloud wrap is supposed to put us in mind of a vast open sky that the drivers of the new MC20 will be able to enjoy with the top folded down. Other than that, the front fascia appears unchanged from the original coupe, but the roofline and the rear end are somewhat new.
In all likelihood, the topless Maserati will come powered by the already familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 Nettuno rated at 630 PS (621 hp / 463 kW) and 729 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed DCT will drive the rear wheels.
The MC20 Convertible should become available next year, but the launch dates and pricing remain unannounced.
