Before the official worldwide premiere of the MC20 GT2 racecar tomorrow, June 30, Maserari decided to give us a short video previewing its engine. Unlike the previous teasers, this one does not show the car itself – just the Nettuno V6.
It is official that the track-only version of the MC20 will be powered by the same engine as its road-going counterpart. It is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder mill taking advantage of twin combustion, like some Formula 1 cars do. In its street-legal guise, it produces 630 PS (621 hp / 463 kW) and takes the car from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds. The top speed lies at 325 km/h (202 mph).
As for the GT2, its specifications remain to be revealed, but we suppose that they will be higher than those of the road-legal version. For the time being, just hit Play and listen to the Nettuno mill in action ahead of tomorrow’s premiere.
