The design team behind Maserati’s MCXtrema supercar has allegedly spent only eight weeks designing it, and the process was largely taking place in a virtual environment, The Drive reports quoting Maserati Design Director Klaus Busse.
This may sound like a rushed production cycle, but the catch is that the first cars will not start reaching their owners until the second half of 2024. According to Busse, they will be loaded with cutting-edge features and shall serve as a ‘tech showroom’ of sorts for the Italian brand.
In essence, the MCXtrema is just a more hardcore, track-oriented take on the MC20. Compared to that car, it has an optimized body aerodynamics and an interior with little but the driver’s seat and the controls.
The engine has been tuned to make 740 PS (730 hp / 544 kW) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is six-speed sequential. Maserati says only 62 units will be made.
