Alfa Romeo Product Lineup boss, Daniel Guzzafame, reminded in his latest interview to CarExpert that the first teasers of the Maserati MC20, revealed in early 2020, depicted a starkly modified Alfa Romeo 4C. It was not a coincidence: the companies had initially wanted to produce the supercar under the Alfa badge, but later decided to put the trident logo on it.
Alfa Romeo’s latest supercar, the 33 Stradale, also has a close connection to Maserati, but is still more than just another flagship spin-off. Aside from having an original body, it features all-new suspension built from scratch, an H-shaped front subframe and a unique rear frame, too.
The engines are also different. While the 33 Stradale (see video) uses the same 2.9-liter V6 as the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, just bored out to three liters of displacement, the MC20 uses the company’s proprietary Nettuno block.
Going forward, the 33 Stradale is set to be re-released as a zero-emission vehicle.
