Interested in a Maserati Merak-shaped lump of rust for €15k?

Someone in Krakow, Poland, is selling what appears to be the rotting corpse of a 1979 Maserati Merak. The photos accompanying the ad suggest that the Italian classic is long overdue its scrap press treatment, but the seller says it can still be restored, justifying the asking price of €15,000.

The original Merak (see video) came out in 1972–1983. Only 1,830 units was made in total, including 1,000 SS modifications chiefly designed for the North American market. The wreck on sale happens to be such an SS model.

It appears that the car got into a serious accident a while ago. It is virtually broken in half with the nose torn off from the rest of the body, baring the interior. Judging by the nausea-inducing sight, the whole had stood abandoned under sun and sky for too many years.

The seller proudly points out that the OEM wheels are preserved and that the trim specification included power windows, among other highlights. Just how is it relevant? Don’t ask us.

The SS drew its power from a 3.0-liter V6 originally rated at 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW). The engine parts, as well as many other drivetrain and exhaust system components, are offered for purchase separately. The owner is even willing to throw in some decayed interior trim bits for an extra couple of euros.
