Gaddafi’s custom-ordered Maybach crops up on sale again

A rare coupe-bodied Maybach 57 S has unexpectedly surfaced in Russia with a 120,000,000 RUB (1,992,000 USD) sticker attached. The ad description states there are only 10-20 Maybach coupes in the world, and this example was built for none other than Muammar Gaddafi, ex-President of Libya.

A tuning shop named Xenatec handled the customization 12 years ago. The shipment had been planned for 2011, but Gaddafi was killed on October, leaving the car without an owner.

It then appeared on sale in the Netherlands in early 2021, costing a rough equivalent of 1,450,000 USD. Someone from Russia must have bought it back then and decided it was worth more.

The authenticity of the car is allegedly confirmed by its chassis number 4 and unique exterior/interior color combo. Despite the claims to it being a genuine Gaddafi order, many people online have been voicing doubts about its real identity and mileage.

The car comes powered by a V12 capable of 612 PS (604 hp / 450 kW) and is said to be the only Maybach coupe in the country at the moment. The odometer shows 5,332 kilometers (3,313 miles) of use, around 3,000 km (1,860 miles) more than a year ago.
