Mazda2 gets updated in Thailand

Mazda has refreshed its model number 2 for developing countries; the premiere took place in Thailand.

The car ended up with two radiator grille designs to choose from – Sport Design with a traditional mesh pattern and New Wave Design with an EV-style solid panel. It is worth pointing out that, since the car is powered by a normal IC engine, the latter version isn’t really airtight. There are air vents all around its perimeter and in the bumper, so only the middle section is closed.

The bumper itself has been redesigned, and the same applies to the alloy wheels. Buyers can choose from a wider selection of exterior paints. The interior has stayed the same from the visual point of view, but the trim materials have been upgraded. Size-wise, the facelift version is 15 mm (0.6 in) longer but otherwise unchanged.

Customers in Thailand can purchase the Mazda2 in two body styles: sedan, which is shown here, and hatchback. For the engine, you could go with the entry-level 1.3-liter non-turbo rated at 93 PS (92 hp / 68 kW) or pay extra for a 1.5 TDI and get 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW). Both are available exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission.
