The hatchback version of the Mazda2 received its facelift this year and is already available in Japan, but the sedan/saloon version hasn’t been updated until now.
Mexico will be the first and main target market for the 2020 Mazda2, although it will eventually arrive in other countries as well. This will not include Europe, where the hatchback will remain the only option.
Refreshed highlights include the radiator grille, the headlights, and the bumpers, which are now styled closely to those of the CX-5 and 6. The 15- and 16-inch wheels are also new. The seats have been redesigned in the same fashion as those of the hatchback, and the multimedia system now supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. One major exception is that the updated G-Vectoring Control System is hatchback-only.
The 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine kept its place under the hood and received a very slight overhaul, which led to a 3-hp, 1-Nm increase in the output (new values: 109 hp / 81 kW and 141 Nm / 104 lb-ft). The transmissions are six-speed manual and automatic, just like before.
