Mazda unveils the 3 TCR, a track-only hatchback

Mazda Motorsport has released a racecar version of its Mazda3 hatchback. The car complies with the TCR International Series rules and is authorized to participate in any championship within the series.

Exterior changes include the addition of a large rear wing, front splitter and rear diffuser, reshaped wheel arches, 18-inch wheels, the Bilstein shock absorbers (Öhlins available as an option).

The engine bay is occupied by a turbo-four engine rated at 350 hp (261 kW) and 490 Nm (360 lb-ft), which revs up to 7,000 RPM and links to a six-speed sequential transmission. The top going speed is 241 km/h (150 mph).

The Mazda 3 TCR will debut at the four-hour-long Daytona Endurance Challenge on January 26, 2020. No plans exist right now to make the model street-legal, but fans are still hopeful.
