Rumors had been leaking through for a while now that Mazda was considering giving its Mazda3 model a turbocharged engine. Now, the company has posted a video officially confirming this and setting the reveal date to August 7.
The description of the video on the Mazda USA YouTube channel says, “We’re starting our engines. Get ready.” Nothing else is being revealed thus far.
In all likelihood, the Mazda3 gets the same 2.5-liter, 250hp / 186kW engine as the Mazda6, the CX5 and the CX9. If true, then it will be able to hold its own against the likes of Volkswagen Golf GTI and Subaru WRX.
