The Mazda Arata is a concept SUV that debuted at this year’s Auto China and is expected to reach production in 2025.
The exterior looks like a reimagining of the company’s CX-5 model. The traditional grille is gone, replaced with a contour backlight, and large air intakes appeared in the bumper. A look from the side also reveals c-pillars tilted backwards.
According to unofficial reports, Mazda is considering releasing the Arata under the production name “EZ-60” in China, offering it both as a pure EV and a range-extender hybrid. It is official, though, that the car is being co-designed with the local marque Changan, which has an agreement with Mazda for several more such collaborations.
