Mazda BT-50 gains two off-road packages

Mazda Australia has unveiled two off-road packs for the BT-50 pickup. Both are set to go on sale next month both as trim options for new vehicles and separately installed kits.

The first one is called SP Pro and costs 7,668 AUD. It is intended for use with the ‘SP’ base trim of the truck and adds 18-inch wheels along with a Lightforce LED bar built into the radiator grille. The bar can illuminate the area up to 569 m (1,866 ft.) in front of the vehicle. Also included in the shipment is a suspension upgrade called Old Man Emu Nitrocharger – new springs, dual shocks and a 2-inch (51mm) lift kit. Rounding this off are decals for the lower door area.

The other option is called Thunder Pro, costs 9,046 AUD and is meant for the flagship BT-50 spec already equipped with a rugged body kit, a light bar, 18-inch wheels and fender flares. It improves upon the above with two Lightforce floodlights reaching as far as 1.1 kilometers (3,609 ft.), a snorkel, assorted body decals and a suspension upgrade called Old Man Emu BP-51. The biggest highlight comes in the form of remote-reservoir dampers filled with nitrogen with support for individual compression/rebound tuning.

The company emphasizes that neither package interferes with the performance of the truck’s ABS or ESP systems in any way. Installing either on previously purchased trucks gives you a two-year warranty, while buying everything new extends the warranty to five years.
