The Mazda 3 received a mid-generational refresh on its domestic market in the fall of 2019, ending up with engine improvements. The same update is now coming to Europe.
The 2.0-liter turbo now has a 15.0:1 compression ratio and makes use of improved pistons and ignition system. This raises its power output from 180 to 186 metric horsepower (178 to 183 hp; 132 to 137 kW, respectively) and its peak torque from 224 to 240 Nm (165 to 177 lb-ft).
The starter-generator ECU has also received a number of improvements, resulting in better throttle response and smoother acceleration of all hybrid specs.
The updated CX-30 is already available in Great Britain starting from £26,300, and Mazda 3 is coming in April.
