Zero EV has taken a normal open-top Mazda MX-5 and converted it into a battery electric vehicle (BEV). The specs may not be that impressive, but it appears to be a thoroughly enjoyable conversion, nonetheless.
The build uses a single electric motor rated at 120 hp (90 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque. The battery pack gives it around 160 kilometers (100 miles) of driving range on a single charge, and Zero EV says you could extend it considerably by driving carefully.
Dynamics-wise, the classic makes it from zero to 97 km/h (60 mph) in eight and a half seconds, which is comparable with the thrust of its NB Series 1.8-liter gasoline engine.
