Contrary to popular rumors, Mazda will be producing another generation of its CX-5 crossover, and will be making it a hybrid to boot.
The corresponding information can be found in the company’s financial report for 2023. It mentions another interesting detail: rather than licensing the part-electric powertrain from Toyota like it did with the CX-50 SUV for China, Mazda actually plans to develop its very own hybrid system for the new CX-5.
Aside from this, the report mentions plans to make the CX-50 model available in other markets outside of China later in 2024. The specifics are unknown.
