Mazda CX-60 debuts as a PHEV

Mazda has unveiled its latest plug-in hybrid SUV, the CX-60 PHEV. The model will go into production in April, followed by a diesel version in late 2022 and a petrol one in 2023.

The off-roader is 4.75 meters (185.5 inches) long, which puts it between the CX-5 and CX-9 in terms of size, and is based on the SMSSA architecture. It is also the company’s first hybrid vehicle that you can charge from a wall socket.

The PHEV commands a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that churn out 327 PS (322 hp / 240 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque in total. All other specs will be 48V mild hybrids, but all other details remain to be revealed.

The hybrid CX-60 boasts a considerably higher-quality interior finish, too. Mazda uses new trim materials here, including textile and metal, and offers top trims with lots of premium features, For example, there is a power-adjustable driver seat with presets you can save, a Bose audio system, all kinds of electronic assists, all-around view cameras, and more.
