Mazda presents specs of its 3.3L diesel V6

Rumors about Mazda developing a new RWD car platform with 3.0L petrol and 3.3L diesel powertrain options had been going on for years, but the company has now confirmed them and even shared some details about the new diesel mill.

Called the Skyactiv-D 3.3, the unit churns out 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) between 4,000 and 4,200 RPM. The peak torque of 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) is available as early as 1,500 RPM. An optional electric add-on boosts the system output to 251 PS (248 hp / 185 kW).

On the recently introduced CX-60 SUV, this diesel engine comes linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. The car needs 7.3 seconds to go from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) and hits its acceleration limit at 220 km/h (136 mph).

Mazda has yet to reveal the specifications of the 3.0-liter petrol engine.
