Mazda CX-60 gets a new petrol I6 option Down Under

Mazda has expanded the engine lineup of its recent CX-60 SUV to include a 3.3-liter inline-six mill burning petrol for 284 PS (280 hp / 209 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. A 48V starter-generator assisting the main engine makes it a mild hybrid.

For the time being, the new spec is available in Australia. According to a representative of the local Mazda branch, the company will not be bringing this particular powertrain to Europe or Japan, but it will offer it in the United States later on. Since the CX-60 is not going to be available in the USA, the engine will make it under the hood of the local CX-70.

Mazda introduced the CX-60 this spring, pointing out that it was based on a brand-new architecture designed to support AWD and RWD layouts. The original SUV debuted as a plug-in hybrid with 327 PS (323 hp / 241 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque at its command. A diesel-powered V6 went on sale later with a choice between 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) and 254 PS (250 hp / 186 kW).
