Reports: Mazda readying another flagship SUV for Europe

With the Mazda CX-90 revealed earlier this month as a U.S.-only release, the company will be developing a different range-topping SUV for Europe, called the CX-80. According to Automotive, the premiere is scheduled for late 2023.

We are told that the company plans to reuse the same platform it used in all other CX-series vehicles. This implies inline engines and RWD as standard. We are guessing that the CX-80 might end up with the same engine assortment as the CX-60, minus the entry-level four-pot. The hybrid spec with 327 PS (323 hp / 241 kW) seems very likely, too.

Other than that, Mazda plans to continue expanding its electrified and all-electric vehicle lineup in the next few years. By the end of 2030, it expects 70% of its cars sold to be EVs.
