Mazda has shared another teaser photo of the CX-90 model underway to the North American market and lifted the veil over its parameters. The 3.3-liter petrol turbo mill will make the crossover SUV the marque’s most powerful production car on record when it debuts on January 31.
The same engine premiered along with the compact-sized CX-60 back in the fall of 2022. In its top specification, the CX-90 will turbocharge the six-pot to 345 PS (340 hp /254 kW) and 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) of torque. It is also likely that Mazda will add a 48-volt starter to it to improve overall dynamic performance.
The CX-90 will also be obtainable with a hybrid powertrain revealed last spring along with the CX-60. That one consists of a 2.5-liter four-banger and an electric motor joining efforts for 327 PS (323 hp / 241 kW). Back when it debuted, it was the most powerful production powertrain by Mazda. Of course, things will change with the introduction of the 3.3-liter e-Skyactiv G at the end of the current month.
Aside from the above, the company promised to unveil a new AWD system with an emphasis on exceptional rear axle power and handling, something that should make the bulky and heavy CX-90 enjoyable to drive despite of its size.
