Video: World’s strongest Mazdaspeed6 eats supercars for breakfast

The Mazdaspeed brand may have gone for good, but the cars are still around, and shops work to make them better. This specific Mazdaspeed6 sedan packing 820 PS is one of the most extreme examples.

A true sleeper car on the outside, it only sports a few aftermarket mods that do not really convey the message about its newfound power. What is interesting is that a man created it in his garage with no third-party involvement. The engine landed with new pistons, rods, base, head gasket, upsized valve springs, and distribution shafts.

Two things about the project are downright shocking. The first one is that the engine uses a single Precision 6466 turbocharger capable of 50 psi, but operating at 40 psi for safety purposes. The massive turbo hits all four wheels with 820 metric horsepower (809 U.S. horsepower, or 603 kilowatts). The other shocker is that the transmission is completely stock except for shorter gear ratios borrowed from a Mazdaspeed3.

The video sees the ambitious Japanese ride challenge a Nissan GT-R, a Chevy Corvette ZR1 dialed up to 800 hp (596 kW), and even a ProCharged C6 ‘Vette with hardcore racing mods. All three try hard to outrace it, only to fail spectacularly.
