Tiny Miata goes berserk, burns tires on 6th gear with 717 HP sticking out of the hood

Are you missing crazy drift videos as much as we do? Get your fix here! This Mazda MX-5 ‘Miata’ may look cute, but it packs a 717-hp (527-kW) engine stripped from a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and burns tires on par with the best of ‘em.

Responsible for the bonkers build (and the video) is Hoonigan Daily Transmission. The sheer power output is so great, the Miata goes donuts on the top (sixth!) gear as soon as the stunt driver hits the gas. Don’t take our word for it, watch the video and see the rubber get pulverized!

In its substantially less awesome factory form, the Mazda MX-5 comes equipped with a 2.0-liter engine rated at 160 hp (120 kW), which sends torque to the wheels using a six-speed manual transmission. It takes 7.6 seconds to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph).

Just a little while ago, the same team showed us a Mini Cooper that weighed in at 680 kilos (1,500 pounds) and had 600 hp (447 kW) under the hood. That one was also quite a tire-smoker.
