Video: Subaru-swapped Mazda MX-5 Miata build squeezed into 10 mins

Car aficionados praise the versatility of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, which feels equally at home on tarmac and on a winding gravel road. A tuner from the USA took things further and ended up with a rally off-roader – check it out!

He began working on the car in April, detailing his every action on video and explaining the decisions made. After the project was finished and the footage edited, he posted a ten-minute video that should be perfect for any car owners who would like to build something similar in their own garage.

The main highlight of the build comes in the form of a 2002 Subaru WRX turbocharged flat-four engine retrofitted with a larger turbine, a new intercooler and radiator, and improved fuel system.

The Miata also makes use of lifted Subaru suspension and its all-wheel drive system. Put on the dyno, it proved capable of delivering as much as 365 PS (360 hp / 268 kW) and up to 488 Nm (360 lb-ft) of torque.
