Meet the Hurtan Grand Albaycin Targa, one of Mazda MX-5’s best performances so far

In January this year, Spanish automaker Hurtan Cars announced its Grand Albaycin Cabrio roadster with a soft top and Mazda MX-5 underpinnings. Today, it revealed another conversion, which goes by the name Targa, uses the same base vehicle and features a hard top.

Specifically, the company needs an MX-5 Retractable Fastback for the conversion. Two variants are offered: Heritage, which sports chrome accents, classical wheels and wood inserts in the cabin, and Bespoke, which has dark exterior décor, contrasting accents, and a cabin bathed in aluminum and carbon fiber.

Both come powered by the same two-liter, four-cylinder engine rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). You can specify six-speed manual or automatic for transmission. The Heritage series begins from €76,200, and the Bespoke is slightly more expensive at €82,300 and above. Opting for a Metallic exterior paintjob adds €875 to the total, and natural leather in the cabin costs another €1,950.

The Cabrio version announced in January costs €13,000 less and even has a “base trim” of sorts, which makes do with a 1.5-liter engine rated at 132 PS (130 hp / 97 kW). Getting a Heritage Cabrio will set you back around €59,000 before options, and a Bespoke Cabrio will lighten your bank account by at least €65,100.

The name of the model references the Albaicín District of Granada, Spain. Aside from its domestic market, the Grand Albaycin will ship to Germany, Italy, Norway, the UAE, Russia, and France.

The first 30 units will be shipped this year, and pre-orders are already running.
