Mazda MX-5 freshens up for the next model year

Mazda has brushed up its MX-5 with new paint and trim options, as well as a new stability assist feature called Kinematic Posture Control. Sales in Japan will begin in January.

The KPC feature mentioned above chooses the assist strength based on the current suspension load. Th weight of the car stays virtually the same despite some added components.

Customers can now opt for a new exterior color called Platinum Quartz Metallic and specify Terracotta leather for the interior finish. The 990S version becomes available once more. Mazda ships it with a small 1.5-liter engine rated at 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW) to keep the weight down.

It remains to be seen whether the international 2022 Mazda MX-5 debuts with the same scope of modifications.
