Styling cheap cars after supercars is a real thing that exists, but who in their right mind would liken a Mazda MX-5 to a BMW Z3?
The car cropped up on the Facebook marketplace several days ago with an asking price of $3,900 USD. A closer examination suggests it was priced about right, given all the shortcomings.
Judge for yourself: the Japanese roadster wears a GFRP body kit designed back in the 1990s, rides on Bilstein shocks, has a Borla exhaust and benefits from a Jackson Racing supercharger. With nearly 210,000 kilometers (130,000 miles) on the clock, though, it is barely drivable and still needs costly maintenance after numerous recent repairs.
The styling itself is not very convincing, to say the least. The front fascia might pull it off, but the sides and the rear quickly break the illusion. Open the door, and the interior isn’t even trying to pass for a BMW in the slightest.
Nice-looking BBS multi-spoke alloys may look like they improve things somewhat, but the seller says the wheels are not for sale. Imagine that!
So, would you be interested in this ride for its asking price?
