A 1992 Mazda MX-5 prepared for serios off-roading is up for grabs online right now with the bidding at a low $3,450.
The stock four-pot is gone and a 5.0-liter Ford V8 takes its place. Normally capable of 350 horsepower or so, it benefits from a Holley carburetor and an upgraded intake system. That said, the company does not reveal how much it makes in its current form. A five-speed manual transmission and a Ford rear differential convey the torque to the wheels.
To accommodate the massive engine under the hood, the tuner ended up modifying the engine bay and designing a new hood cover. The company also cut out the wheel arches to fit in larger wheels and replaced the front bumper with a bull bar. Extra LED lights were put on the roof.
In the chassis department, there are a lift kit and coil-over springs helping new 14-inch wheels shod in 27-inch tires sit comfortably in their wells. Interior modifications are just as extensive with a new steering wheel and seats, a safety semi-cage and no more power top mechanism. Power steering and the AC are also gone to keep things light.
The odometer shows 134,000 miles (215,600 kilometers), but the total pre-swap mileage is a mystery.
