There is a certain polarity on the modern car tuning scene with small, homegrown projects on the one pole and all-out, expensive shop makeovers on the other. This Mazda RX-7 looks like multiple shops tuned it to hell and back, but is actually a work of one individual.
The owner of the Texan shop Forcefedfab felt like flexing his muscle for the SEMA-2019, so he acquired a crashed RX-7 FD and made a candy out of it. He never stopped there, however, choosing instead to continue working until it was perfect. He has already invested more than 10,000 hours into the project.
The biggest highlight of this truly remarkable build is the engine, which now rocks four rotors and a pair of humongous Garrett turbos dialed up to 25 psi of boost pressure. The wheels get hit with something like 1,217 PS (1,000 hp / 895 kW), and a custom exhaust system makes the coupe sing almost like the famous 787B racer.
To name just a few more highlights, the rotary hypercar makes use of a Lamborghini transmission, previous-gen Corvette suspension and other borrowed parts like this. Contrary to all expectations, it is also road-legal. The odometer reads 150 miles (242 km) right now, but the owner says he plans on driving it quite a bit more soon, so let us wish him luck!
