3D artists drawing cars often try mashing designs from different models or even brands together to see how they work, but in real life, grafting a front end of one car to the body of another is a daunting and time-consuming task with no guarantee of success. Still, this Mazda RX-7 sporting a Mk4 Supra face transplant looks kind of cool in its own way.
The man behind the project says he spent several months sourcing the parts, putting them together and ensuring that everything fit well from the standpoint of proportions. He installed OEM Supra headlight units next to an aftermarket front bumper and a ventilated hood. He had to put the fenders over existing bodywork, but you won’t notice the overlap unless you know exactly where to look.
To enhance the semblance, he added extensions to the side sills and the rear wheel arches and replaced the rear bumper with a different model housing dual tailpipes. A low stance and negative wheel camber rounded off the ambitious project.
The car still largely identifies as the RX-7, meaning it relies on a rotary engine for propulsion. As weird as it may look, it is decidedly a head-turner and well executed.
